





Herschel Council
The Herschel Council is the body that oversees the policy making of the Herschel Association, (a Section 21 Company) which owns the school. It is responsible for governance and strategic planning, focuses on the school’s overall well-being, balances the traditional aspects of the school whilst continually adjusting to the changing markets and educational conditions.
Council meets formally once a term whilst the sub-committees meet more regularly. The sub-committees of Council manage the portfolios of Finance, Estate Planning and Building, Marketing, Human Resources, Bursaries, IT and Outreach. Councillors bring skills and expertise in these specialist areas and are expected to exercise sound judgement and common sense in all that they do.
Membership of the Council involves voluntary service to the School and embraces a code of conduct which also excludes a conflict of interest Councillors are committed to serving Herschel, whilst ensuring the development and maintenance of the schools ethos.
There are currently ten People serving on Council of which six are current parents, four are past parents and of the total two are Old Herschelians.
