Oscar's visit to Herschel

No doubt you have heard of Oscar's visit to Herschel on Tuesday!  Thank you for all the generous donations of pet food.  They will be delivered to several animal welfare organisations, including SPCA and Tears. Joanne Lefson told the girls that Oscar was on ‘death row' when she adopted him, and she soon realised that this cute rescued dog and she could work together to raise awareness of the plight of abandoned and homeless animals in shelters.  This led to the World Woof Tour.  She showed wonderful and entertaining footage of her and Oscar's travels around the world, and some amazing things they did like riding on an elephant and a camel, hang-  gliding, boating down the Amazon River visiting the Taj Mahal, and many, many more.  Of course it wasn't all just fun; they talked to many organisations and schools. As you may know, 'Oscar' wrote a book called 'Ahound the World'.  It is great reading for anyone from 9 or 10 years old right up to adult.  If you or your daughter is keen to buy it, you can place an order in the Prep Library. Oscar and Joanne will be visiting again on the first day of Readathon (15 March). All books ordered will be ‘paw signed' by Oscar on the first day of the Readathon. The book will be sold at R150 (R179 at Exclusive Books) and a portion of the cost will go to sterilization projects.

Please place orders in the library by the end of Monday 7 March. Payment must be made with the order.  Please put the money in an envelope with your child's name and class and the words "AHOUND THE WORLD order".
