Dear Parents
I have just returned from the Premier’s Merit Awards Ceremony where top pupils and schools were recognised. Apart from our 100% pass rate, 100% University acceptance, 387 Subject Distinctions (3,97 per girl) 398 Subject Distinctions including AP Mathematics (4.06 per girl).
A number of individuals did remarkably well. At the Merit Award Ceremony today the top 20 students in the Western Cape were identified and I am thrilled that: Nicole Lester was the Top Student in the Province, Emily van Heerden was 10th, Aimee Morris was 18th . Kayleigh Rutherford was acknowledged as one of ten students in the Province who achieved 100% for Mathematics.
Herschel was identified as one of the Top 10 Academic schools in the Province. However, this year the criteria have been changed, in that emphasis has been placed on the total number of pupils achieving University Acceptance in a particular school, and not on the percentage of candidates who achieved that level.
In our School Focus early this term a detailed analysis of the results will be provided. This is a remarkable set of results. I am so proud of our teachers and girls.
Fond regards
