Mrs Lynn Reid, who was a Herschel council member for 22 years, with artist Neil Rhoda at the unveiling of a wood sculpture done by Rhoda.  The sculpture was fashioned from a branch of an Ilex tree which was part of the Herschel garden since the school opened in 1922, until 2006 when the tree had to be removed for safety reasons. The Ilex tree, which was a popular meeting place on campus, has become a symbol of interconnectedness and protection at Herschel.
