



Support & Counselling - Intermediate and Senior Phases
Remedial and Learning Support Team
There is an established multi-disciplinary Remedial Support Department, headed by a clinical remedial teacher, attached to the Preparatory School.
In addition, the Remedial Support Team includes a group of outside therapists who practise at school on a part-time basis. These professionals include a speech and language therapist, two physiotherapists, two occupational therapists and two facilitators.
Speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and facilitation are offered to individual girls during the course of the school day for a prescribed fee, payable by the parents.
The School Counsellor also serves as an active participant in this team.
Remedial and Academic Support
Specific assessments take place in order to investigate the learning styles of specific girls. Individual girls who need specialised learning support in literacy and numeracy are assisted in their learning by one of two remedial teachers. Study techniques, time management and organisation skills are developed.
In addition, individual girls are offered extra Mathematics and extra Afrikaans support. These lessons are conducted after school, for a prescribed fee, payable by the parents.
Speech and Language Therapy
The speech and language therapist offers assessment and therapy for girls who are experiencing difficulties with articulation and non-fluent speech. In addition, she assists girls with auditory skills, comprehension of written and spoken language and the development of expressive and receptive language.
Facilitation
The facilitators work in assisting an individual girl within the classroom to develop holistic learning. Study techniques, time management and organisation skills are developed.
