OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS: 2022 Matric NSC Results

The 2022 results are awe-inspiring and excellent. Through a particularly challenging three years, our 2022 matriculants have achieved exceptional results!...

Pre-Preparatory School

The Pre-Preparatory building is situated on top of the hill, overlooking the Prep and Senior School. We have two Grade R classes, two Nursery classes and two Pre-Nursery classes located in a what looks like a large house adjoining the Preparatory school.

Our location allows the pre-schoolers to familiarise themselves with the two other campuses, as we have our weekly music and library lessons in the Prep School, and we have our teddy bear’s picnics on the lawns of the Senior School.

This space provides a safe, nurturing, and secure environment for our Butterflies, Ladybirds, Bunnies, Bees, Kittens and Lambs.

Our Philosophy

For our girls to flourish, they need to be happy, safe, and always feel loved. It is therefore our aim in the Pre-Preparatory School to provide a playful environment where the girls learn and grow at their own pace. We offer a rich, developmentally appropriate curriculum to ensure well-rounded girls.

The Pre-Preparatory Programme

Pre-Nursery

The Pre-Nursery Classes run an open plan classroom. This means that all the creative activities are in one classroom, while the other class houses a large fantasy area, books, puzzles, construction toys, educational toys, and games. The shared doors are open for most of the day and only close when the classes are engaged in morning ring, quiet play, and story times.

The Class Teachers and Assistant Teachers are available to all the girls as they move freely between both rooms during creative activities. A wide variety of activities are provided for the children to explore which include a play dough table, writing and drawing table, and daily, theme-related art activities.

Outdoor free play takes place in our exciting playground where the girls enjoy active and imaginative games and activities that ensure their gross motor skills are developed.

Through songs, stories and role play the concepts of self-esteem, empathy, respect, good-listening, sharing, uniqueness, manners, and self-regulation are taught in an age appropriate manner. In this way, the girls learn to express their feelings and emotions, and their social skills are developed. The Warm Fuzzy and Cold Prickly characters are introduced in the Pre-Nursery classes, and they illustrate appropriate and acceptable behaviour towards others.

The Nursery Programme

Nursery is a wonderful year and it is a time of rapid growth and development. An interesting, nurturing, and exciting environment is created to make learning fun and stimulating. Activities are interdisciplinary and are designed to help each child participate and progress well. This ensures consolidation of what has been learnt in Pre-Nursery and establishes a firm foundation for Grade R. Throughout the year, the girls are introduced to many fun and diverse themes that help facilitate their learning.

School Song

We are assembled here in love,
We are united, we care for one another.
The greatest lesson of all is the one
That teaches us to live together, together.

Refrain:
Everyone’s a spark and in the night
Together we make a light, a fire burning bright
Ad Dei Gloriam; Inkosi mayibongwe:
To the glory of our God: this is what we believe.

In times of trouble we support
Our fellows; we are taught to be there for our friends.
And all around us, there will be
That special unity, that binds us all together.

If we come back after many years,
We will think fondly of the things that we remember,
And the friends that we made then,
These will be friends forever, forever.
