The Herschel Pre-Preparatory Department aims to provide a warm and nurturing environment where each morning is a new adventure and laughter and fun are the order of the day. Character Education, the Bounce Back Resilience Programme and Peace Education underpin the development of confident individuals with high self-esteem. Problem-solving, mediation and conflict resolution are part of the learning programme.

Highlights, Outings and Performances
The pupils enjoy many educational outings during the year. They are also entertained by visiting puppeteers and independent performers. These enhance the educational programme.
Highlights of the year include the Grade R sleepover, Special Persons' Day, Enrichment Week, Friendship Day, and interactive visits to and from Western Province Boys' Pre-Preparatory School.
Outings include visits to Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, the beach, the Aquarium, The Honeybee Foundation, Kiddies Campus and the Cape Town Art Gallery.
