Diversity and Transformation Policy and Annual Reports

Herschel Girls School is an inclusive South African school that strives to produce outstanding, competent, and inspiring young women who will contribute meaningfully to our society, South Africa, and the world at large. The school’s Diversity and Transformation framework is an important policy providing for the foundation of the inclusivity objective of the school. This framework serves to recognise that inclusivity is both a morally sound and educational imperative. In seeking to articulate the transformation agenda and journey for Herschel Girls School, we have been guided by the Constitution of South Africa, our cherished Anglican heritage, and our explicit commitment to a culture of mutual respect and inclusion.

This section of our website details our policy framework, the work and progress achieved so far to create a school of genuine belonging.

School Song

We are assembled here in love,
We are united, we care for one another.
The greatest lesson of all is the one
That teaches us to live together, together.

Refrain:
Everyone’s a spark and in the night
Together we make a light, a fire burning bright
Ad Dei Gloriam; Inkosi mayibongwe:
To the glory of our God: this is what we believe.

In times of trouble we support
Our fellows; we are taught to be there for our friends.
And all around us, there will be
That special unity, that binds us all together.

If we come back after many years,
We will think fondly of the things that we remember,
And the friends that we made then,
These will be friends forever, forever.
