Olivia and Georgia Nel (Grade 9) continued their excellent form in the pool at various swim meets held in March and April. At the SA Senior National Aquatic Championships held in Durban earlier this month, Olivia achieved Gold medals in the 4x50m Free Relay and 4x100m Free Relay, and a Silver in the 100m Free Youth Elite. She placed 4th in the Seniors in a Junior World Championship qualifying time. She also achieved a Bronze medal in the Mixed 4×100 Medley Relay.
At the African Junior Swimming Championships held in Cairo, Egypt from the 28th to 31st March 2017, Olivia achieved 6 Gold medals (50m Free in a new SA and meet record / Junior World Championship qualifying time) 4×100 Mixed Free Relay – new meet record, 4×100 Medley Relay – new meet record, 4×200 Free Relay, 4×100 Free Relay, 4×100 Medley Relay – new meet record.
She also bagged 2 Silver medals in the 100m Free and 50m Fly.
At the Junior Nationals Durban held in March, in the Girls Age 14&U category, Olivia achieved 4 Gold medals and 1 Silver medal.
She has been chosen as a member of the SA Junior National Swimming Squad!
Sister Georgia also continues to impress, with a tally of 4 Gold (200IM, 100m Free, 200m Free and Women 4x200m Free Relay), 1 Silver (400m Free) and 2 Bronze medlas (Women 4x50m Free Relay and 100m Back) achieved at the SA Senior National Aquatic Championships in Durban.
At the Junior Nationals, also held in Durban, in the Girls Age 14&U Georgia achieved 1 Gold medal (4×50 Free Relay) 2 Silver (50m Free and 200IM) and 2 Bronze (100m Free and 200m Free)
Georgia was also chosen as a member of the SA Junior National Swimming Squad.
