Good bye to a dear friend and colleague

It is with a devastated heart that we inform the Herschel family and community that Mrs Bronwen Parker-Muzzell, valued long-standing staff member and the Head of Geography and Merriman House, passed away in the early hours of this morning.

Bronwen was surrounded by the love of her family and close friends in the hospital and Mrs Kelly Parker-Muzzell, her partner and wife, was with her throughout the night and held her hand as she passed.

This morning the staff and girls gathered together in the Theatre where we shared the tragic news and gave thanks for life of Bronwen.  We already sorely miss her passion for education and geography, her love and care for the girls, her infectious sense of humour and her purposeful leadership in so many areas of the life of Herschel.

We know that the Herschel family will be deeply shocked to hear this news. Please continue to pray for Kelly and the family for strength and peace at this incredibly difficult time.

School Song

We are assembled here in love,
We are united, we care for one another.
The greatest lesson of all is the one
That teaches us to live together, together.

Refrain:
Everyone’s a spark and in the night
Together we make a light, a fire burning bright
Ad Dei Gloriam; Inkosi mayibongwe:
To the glory of our God: this is what we believe.

In times of trouble we support
Our fellows; we are taught to be there for our friends.
And all around us, there will be
That special unity, that binds us all together.

If we come back after many years,
We will think fondly of the things that we remember,
And the friends that we made then,
These will be friends forever, forever.
