Herschel U11 Girls Twilight Tournament

On Friday last week, Herschel initiated a brand new and exciting event for U11 girls Hockey teams. 10 teams from 9 different schools around Cape Town took part in the inaugural Herschel U11 Girls Twilight Tournament. The standard of Hockey was high and the girls enjoyed the challenge of friendly competition whilst playing under lights. The spirit in which the games were played and sportsmanship between schools was a highlight of the evening.

Well done to Somerset House who won the tournament, and to the Herschel U11s who came 2nd. Wynberg girls were the bronze medal winners. Congratulations also go to Sweet Valley who won the medals for Team Spirit, and to Langa Hockey club who were awarded the medals for Sportsmanship. Thank you to everyone who made this event such a success, we look forward to seeing you next year!

School Song

We are assembled here in love,
We are united, we care for one another.
The greatest lesson of all is the one
That teaches us to live together, together.

Refrain:
Everyone’s a spark and in the night
Together we make a light, a fire burning bright
Ad Dei Gloriam; Inkosi mayibongwe:
To the glory of our God: this is what we believe.

In times of trouble we support
Our fellows; we are taught to be there for our friends.
And all around us, there will be
That special unity, that binds us all together.

If we come back after many years,
We will think fondly of the things that we remember,
And the friends that we made then,
These will be friends forever, forever.
