INFORMATION REGARDING THE HERSCHFIELD DERBY – FRIDAY 19 AUGUST 2022
VENUE: HERSCHEL GIRLS SCHOOL
The annual Herschfield Derby is always a highlight in the school calendar and is very well supported
and enjoyed, whether you play sport or not. We are confident that this year will be no different,
especially as we have not been able to hold the Derby since 2019. In addition, with it being our
Centenary year, this year’s Derby takes on extra significance.
Pupils must arrive in their winter uniform options of either their navy trousers, fawn shirt, jersey and
blazer or skirt, stockings, fawn shirt, jersey and blazer. Our spirit committee will be out in force
helping us to support our teams. We anticipate a strong sense of camaraderie and festive school spirit at
the Derby.
The netball matches culminate with the 1st team match scheduled for 18h00 in the Sports Centre.
Space as you know is fairly limited in the Sports Centre so there is a limit to the number of players,
cheerleaders and parents of players who may attend. This is always tricky but staff from both Herschel
and Springfield will try to manage the situation to allow for the maximum number of spectators.
After the final netball match, the focus will shift to the Astro for hockey. The Herschel spectators
are to sit on the right-hand side of the stairs, near the studio, and the Springfield spectators on
the left closest to the entrance to the school.
There will be limited food vendors and a coffee cart available where spectators can purchase
refreshments. Parking is always a challenge, and as always we ask you to take cognisance of our
neighbours and not park in or block their driveways. Ubering is highly recommended.
We strongly encourage all in our Herschel community, pupils and parents, to be there and we look
forward to witnessing true pink pride in action.
The full list of fixtures is outlined below.
