Mr Stuart West appointed new Executive Headmaster at St John’s College

We offer our sincere congratulations to our Head, Stuart West, who has been offered and has accepted the position of Executive Head at St John’s College in Johannesburg with effect from 1 January 2020.

Stuart has made an enormous contribution to Herschel since he took over the reins in 2013 and has played an important role in providing leadership and direction to the school. His love for Herschel has been evident in his passion and commitment to the staff and girls. Stuart’s pastoral care has been instrumental in creating a more nurturing environment for the girls and his commitment to transformation has brought about positive change, whilst maintaining excellence in all fields. He is very heart-sore to be leaving Herschel, but sees this as an opportunity for him and his family which he cannot pass up.

We wish Stuart and Joyanne all the best in their future endeavours and will bid them farewell in a formal manner towards the end of the year.

School Song

We are assembled here in love,
We are united, we care for one another.
The greatest lesson of all is the one
That teaches us to live together, together.

Refrain:
Everyone’s a spark and in the night
Together we make a light, a fire burning bright
Ad Dei Gloriam; Inkosi mayibongwe:
To the glory of our God: this is what we believe.

In times of trouble we support
Our fellows; we are taught to be there for our friends.
And all around us, there will be
That special unity, that binds us all together.

If we come back after many years,
We will think fondly of the things that we remember,
And the friends that we made then,
These will be friends forever, forever.
