What an incredible journey and relationship it has been with the WCED! We are immensely proud of our pupils’ outstanding performance in the 2023 WCED NSC examinations and excited for the opportunities that await them.
These phenomenal results are a testament to the exceptional work ethic at Herschel, the strong bond between pupils and teachers, and the school’s rich tradition of hard work, holistic participation in school life, impressive time-management skills, and focused engagement. The Matrics of 2023 have brought great honour to themselves, their families, and Herschel.
Highlights include:
- Of the Class of 2023, which wrote the NSC examinations, 100% passed and they achieved a 100% Bachelor Degree pass.
- The 95 candidates achieved 388 subject distinctions (including Further Studies Mathematics (Standard) and Further Studies English). This equates to an average of 4,1 subject distinctions per candidate.
- 15 pupils attained an aggregate over 90%. (16%) *
- 48 pupils attained an A aggregate (over 80%). (51%) *
- In total, 81 pupils attained an A or B aggregate (over 70%). (85%) *
- 34 pupils achieved 6 or more subject distinctions and 51 pupils achieved 4 or more subject distinctions.
- 10 subjects achieved a subject average of over 80%. These are English, Mathematical Literacy, Accounting, Business Studies, Dramatic Arts, French, Geography, History, Music and Visual Arts. Further Studies Mathematics Standard had an average of 84%.
- We must particularly congratulate the Dramatic Arts and Visual Arts departments for achieving a full house of distinctions; French department celebrating 94% distinctions and the Mathematical Literacy, Accounting, History and Geography departments are celebrating achieving 70% or more distinctions.
